At first, they were just two familiar faces passing through the same workplace—working in different offices, occasionally noticing each other from afar. But if you asked either of them back then, they would’ve told you the same thing: the other seemed a little too polished, a little too distant… maybe even a little snobby. Everything changed when she transferred into a department in the same building.Suddenly, they weren’t just passing glimpses anymore—they were in the same space, sharing the same routines, and slowly becoming more aware of each other’s presence. Then came a small moment that would turn into something much bigger.On his birthday, he went out to lunch with coworkers. Somewhere between conversation and celebration, he had a simple idea: bring her back a piece of cake. It wasn’t a grand gesture—just a small excuse to finally start a conversation.What started with a slice of cake quickly turned into their first real conversation—and with it, the beginning of something neither of them expected. The person who once seemed unapproachable turned out to be warm, genuine, and easy to talk to. The more time they spent together, the more they realized just how wrong their first impressions had been.And as it turns out, she may have found a few creative ways to keep those conversations going. Every now and then, her printer would “mysteriously” stop working—giving her the perfect reason to call in his “IT support.” Whether the printer actually needed fixing or not is still up for debate, but those small moments at her desk quickly became something they both looked forward to.As their connection grew, so did their desire to keep it just between them. Not wanting workplace attention, they quietly kept their relationship a secret. His bright red car, however, would have made that nearly impossible—standing out to anyone who happened to pass by her house. So, in true commitment (and a little creativity), he started borrowing his dad’s car when he would come to visit her, making sure their story stayed theirs for just a little while longer.Of course, secrets have a funny way of almost being discovered. One morning, her boss casually asked if she had bought a new car. Confused, she looked out the window and replied, “No… clearly you see my white Camry.” Her boss paused and said he must have been mistaken—because he could’ve sworn he heard she had a new red Mustang. It was a close call, and one they still laugh about.Lunch breaks turned into shared laughs. Passing moments became something they anticipated. And somewhere along the way, what started as curiosity turned into connection.Looking back, it’s almost unbelievable that something so meaningful began with such simple gestures—a slice of cake, a quick conversation, a printer that may or may not have been broken, and a borrowed car parked quietly out front. But that’s their story—proof that sometimes love shows up when you least expect it, in the most ordinary moments.From misjudging each other across the room to choosing each other for a lifetime, their journey began with one small act of kindness… and a piece of birthday cake.

Hi, I’m Lacey!

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and I’m a proud Cancer—so if you know, you know. I love anything that lets me be creative or get my hands a little dirty, whether that’s antiquing for hidden gems, gardening, or redoing furniture and giving old pieces a new life.

During the week, I work as a Finance Specialist for the Water Utilities Department at the City of Weatherford. It keeps me busy, but I really enjoy what I do and the people I work with.

If I’m relaxing, there’s a good chance I’ve got Dirty Dancing on (yes, I can probably quote it), or I’m planning my next project or treasure hunt.

One of my absolute favorite things about Cole is how naturally we just get each other. We’re always bantering back and forth, and no matter what’s going on, we find a way to laugh together. It’s my favorite kind of love—fun, easy, and full of joy.

I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

Lacey Smith

Hey, I’m Cole!

I grew up in the country with a Weatherford address, but went to Aledo schools. Most of my childhood was spent riding dirt bikes or playing games with friends—and honestly, not much has changed. The only real difference now is I have bills… which I’m still not totally convinced are worth it. Thinking about quitting adulting altogether—but don’t worry, I’m just kidding, babe.

I’m an Aries, which pretty much checks out.

The last few years have been pretty consumed with school, but when I do get downtime, you’ll usually find me on the couch with Lacey watching shows, gaming while she’s peacefully napping, or—if it’s summer—at the pool with family and friends enjoying a few adult beverages.

I don’t really have a single favorite movie. If you ask Lacey, I’ve seen just about everything (and she’s not wrong). But if I had to pick a current favorite, I’d say The Count of Monte Cristo is at the top of the list right now.

For work, I’m part of the I.T. department for the City of Weatherford, where I help support everything from the Police Department to the Animal Shelter, Library, and more. There’s always something new going on, which keeps things interesting.

My favorite thing about Lacey? Easy—her laugh and her smile. We go back and forth nonstop, and she’s way wittier than I’ll ever be. But more than anything, she has the biggest heart. My family loved her right away, and so did I. I just love her so much.

I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

Cole Burns

Lexi is not only the bride's daughter, but her greatest love story; one that began long before this day.  Through every chapter, she has been her heart, her purpose, and her greatest gift in life.   Lexi has a way of bringing beauty and joy into everything she touches.  Sharing this moment together is a reminder of a lifetime of love, laughter, and an unbreakable bond.

As the eldest sister to the bride, Lauren is Lacey’s forever confidante and the keeper of all the childhood stories (yes, even the embarrassing ones).  As sisters, their bond is unbreakable; strengthened by time and cherished more than words can say.  Lauren’s calm demeanor and warm presence mean the world to Lacey on this special day.

When you are sisters with just 11 months apart in age, you grow up sharing everything-   clothes, makeup, secrets, laughs and countless memories.  Through every stage in life, they've been each other's constant and a feeling of "home".  Lindsey is the one who keeps everything in line (whether you ask her or not), and the bride wouldn't have it any other way.  With her in charge of the vibes & the playlist, it's safe to say the big day will run smoothly and sound amazing.

Elizabeth, or better known as Lunsford, became instant friends with Lacey while working together when Lexi was just a wee one.  Lunsford prides herself in being an awesome, loving friend to Lacey; and although she only follows about half of the advice she gives, she has been a constant source of support.  Especially when Lacey needs to be told that she's too hard on herself.  If you asked Lunsford, she'd tell you that she & the bride-to-be are soul mates.  But they aren't gay so they had to settle.  (Sorry Cole & Josh).  Lacey will forever be the twerkin in Lunsford's merkin and she can't wait to celebrate her best friend's big day!
